Student Activities Section:
This section is concerned with supervising the implementation of the various student activities through which the student can practice, develop and refine their favourite activities and hobbies. The department includes six main committees under which a number of student groups are located:

Committees and Groups of Student Activities
Media Committee
The Media Committee is involved in developing the media skills of its members through workshops and media coverage carried out by its members for the various activities held at the College. It is also assists in developing the skills of students in journalistic directing and designing publications. The Committee participates in various media competitions in press-editing, radio and various other media aspects
Objectives of the Committee
-Implementing programs and media activities of the faculty
-The work of media coverage of various events and activities of the college and dissemination of this information within the community
-Staying in constant contact with all the college students through a monthly bulletin issued by the Committee which, in terms of editing, design and directing, is done by the students themselves.
Continuous presence in all activities and special events of the College
The Sports Committee
Sports is an educational activity that aims at educating young people emotionally, socially, physically and mentally throughout various sports programs under the supervision of specialists in this field. The Committee encourages students to practice their interests in various sports held during the academic year such as sports days, sports tournaments, etc., and through participation in sports events held at institutions of higher education
Objectives of the Sports Activity
-Making students aware of activities to gain fitness and bodily strength
-Providing students with the knowledge of the correct concepts of physical education and sports activity, including team work and sports competitions
-Developing healthy social attitudes and good behaviour through particular attitudes in group and individual games, giving students self-confidence and developing sportsmanship
-Contributing to the elimination of psychological tension and satisfying psychological needs and social adjustment
-Encouraging students to appreciate the importance of investing leisure time, practicing some useful sports activities
-Raising the level of physical efficiency of students
-Providing students with mathematical and health rules to build healthy bodies so as to optimally perform their duties in the service of their religion, their country and society
-Providing care and attention to talented students in various sports to promote
their technical abilities and skills
Community of Thought and Literature
This group is one of the oldest student groups at the College. The group hosts a number of poets from inside and outside the Sultanate to commemorate poetry evenings
Community Goals
-Discover, develop and refine student literary talents
-Providing the student with literary writing skills
-Organize poetic and literary evenings as well as cultural events
-Enrich students’ culture by familiarizing them with books, arts and various literary works
-Develop the students’ sense of literary criticism
-Assist students to establish links with various literary and cultural activities in the community.
English Language Group
The English Language Group is one of the most recent student groups listed this year. The group includes those interested in learning English and social interactions, which contribute to raising the level of knowledge among members and provide them with communication, writing and reading skills in English. The group is divided into several sections, including speaking, writing, and drama, and is responsible for the development of work which aims to
refine the students skills in English.
Group Objectives:

Promoting a culture of learning English

Contribute to building a generation seeking to acquire a new language

Improving the confidence of students at the college
.
· Encourage students to engage in research and education
.
Developing students’ skills in various fields in English (speaking, reading, listening, etc
.).
Information Technology Group
The Information Technology Group is one of the groups of the Scientific Committee in the Student Services Center. This group is concerned with all information technology areas related to computers and mobile phones and is also responsible for maintenance, programming and training workshops
involved in this field.
Group Objectives:
· Highlighting the importance of information technology as a reality since we live our lives daily through continuous scientific development in the field of computers and mobile phones.
· Developing students abilities and creativity through specialized workshops and educational lectures.
· Providing opportunities for students to apply themselves academically in the IT specialization course through the group programs.
· Promoting teamwork and volunteerism by providing free services to students in the Computer maintenance field.
Business Administration Group
The Business Administration Group is a modern student group that has been re-established again. This group is mainly associated with studying, and also seeks to educate students about
Business Administration by conducting exhibitions. In addition, the group is working on enhancing the scientific skills of the students through conducting training workshops and scientific lectures.
Objectives
:
· Developing students administrative skills through specialized workshops and courses.
· Encouraging students to participate in projects outside the college.
· Improving leadership and teamwork spirit.
·
Organizing activities that allow students to practice what they have learnt in the academic curriculum.
· Introducing student companies by providing workshops that help them develop their administrative skills.
The Third Eye Group
This is one of the student groups that originated from the Scientific Committee at the Student Services Center. It offers many courses and workshops in the field of photography for students.
Group Objectives
:
· Developing the talent of the students in the field of photography and video-shooting.
· Highlighting the importance of photography as an art that allows them to express themselves to the world through imagery.
· Emphasizing the importance of photography as a craft and skill that can benefit students in their future life.
· Highlighting students work and talents by displaying it at specialized exhibitions.
· Spreading the culture of photography and its value among the college staff.
· Instilling the attributes of teamwork and cooperation among the students.
· Ensuring that students become accustomed to organizing special events such as workshops and exhibitions as part of the practical application of the group.
Al-Ja
wala and Al-Jawalat (Scout)Tribe
The Scout Movement is considered as the first tribe of its kind and it was established in the Sultanate in 1999. It is a voluntary, non-political educational movement, open to all without distinction to origin, gender or belief. This is in accordance with the objective, principles and method set by the founder of the movement, Lord Baden-Powell. The Al-Jawala Stage
is considered as the latest and most advanced scouting phase. This tribe represents the Scout Movement at the College of Applied Sciences in Ib
ri.
Tribe Objectives:
To prepare a good citizen who can serve him/ herself and his/her community through a variety of training programs, as well as volunteering in the scientific, cultural, scouting, physical and spiritual fields.
The Hostel Group
This group is particularly interested in organizing student activities inside the dormitory in order to create an outlet for female students through developing an educational and entertaining atmosphere in which students can utilize their leisure time.
Group Objectives:
· Refining the talents of students and developing their abilities and skills in order to employ them for the benefit of the students and the college.
· Finding an outlet for the students living in the hostel through organizing various student activities from time to time.
· Creating personal space or privacy for those students who wish to practice their hobbies and talents in a specialized manner.
The Hostel Group
This group is particularly interested in organizing student activities inside the dormitory in order to create an outlet for female students through developing an educational and entertaining atmosphere in which students can utilize their leisure time.

Theatre Group:
The theatre group is considered one of the oldest groups in the college, is affiliated to the Technical Committee, which is keen to provide distinctive theatrical works dealing with events and community issues. It participates widely in competitions inside the sultanate and in the gulf countries, and has achieved many distinguished accolades.
Objectives of the group:
Sprea
ding awareness, theatrical culture and developing a sense of literary as well as artistic beauty among the students.
Spreading the culture of order, discipline, attendance and punctuality among students.
Refine and encourage the talents of students, and prepare Omani teams in the field of theater and drama.
Inculcate the spirit of teamwork and cooperation amongst students.
Fine Arts Group (Sculpture, painting and calligraphy):
This group seeks to develop the skills of students in the fields of sculpture, painting and calligraphy through the establishment of various workshops and participation in various competitions and exhibitions held in these fields.
Objectives of the group:
Developing the artistic sense and understanding the aesthetics owned by the student.
Discovering talented students and encouraging them to improve their abilities.
Discovering new methods of artistic expression.
Discovery of new sources of artistic expression and formation.
Enhancing self-confidence in the personality of the students and to encourage them to express their personalities imaginatively.
